Fashion Stakes // Five Spring/Summer Trends

We can but hope that spring is just around the corner – we’ve had enough rain, wind and storms to last us for at least another year I reckon, (Please stop soon)! However, eventually the overcast days should make way for sunshine and blue skies, and with that, my wardrobe will appreciate a little bit of updating. If you’re interested in styling yourself as though you’re paying attention to the catwalks, here are five SS14 upcoming 'trends.'

Logos (Stripe Tee £18 River Island - Marc Jacobs Bangle £65 Harrods)
This year is the time to tip your hat to the past, while being on trend doing so. From 90s logos to slogans and motifs, this spring will apparently be filled with outfits paying tribute to them. Catwalks have been filled with models sporting skirts teamed with sweatshirts, so take a look at the skirts from George at ASDA if you’re hoping to find something that will look and feel fab.
Fancy being a little unique? Pick up some patches and sew them onto your denims for a funky, original look.

Pastels (Ombre Eyelash Jumper £16 George @ Asda - Pastel Jumper £28 Fashion Union)
Last season saw an eruption of pastels and this spring, that style is set to continue. Dress in top to toe pastels – pinks, lilacs and minty greens (my favourite) – or add a splash of pastel to your outfit if you’re not brave enough to go the whole hog. These pastel jumpers would be a perfect accompaniment to a pair of stonewash jeans to add a layer of pastel hue and a summery touch!
From pretty pastel skirts with matching pastel socks and flat ballet pumps, to powder blue cashmere sweaters accessorised with a statement necklace, the palest pastels are well and truly hot this season, so don’t miss out!

Florals (Floral Trousers £17 Dorothy Perkins - Floral Jumper £24 Chicwish)
Floral prints have been well loved for ages, they're nothing new, but they have truly bloomed in spring 2014 (pun definitely intended). If you want to look like a horticultural masterpiece, now is definitely the time to do it! Opt for a little black floral dress for a fresh look, or clash the prints for a standout outfit that will get heads turning!

Geo Prints (Geo Scarf £16 Topshop - Geo Playsuit £15 BooHoo - Geo Skirt £15 George @ Asda)
From graffiti prints to chevrons and triangles, geo prints have inspired the SS14 trends to the max. Inject some bold colours and statement styles into your wardrobe without further ado, and add some brightness to your day, even if the sun is hiding behind the clouds.

California Dreamin’ (T-Shirt £15 River Island - Rayban Sunglasses £94 Sunglasses Shop
California is renowned for its laidback lifestyle and trendsetting fashions, and this spring and summer you can bring the look home. We may not have the LA boulevards and we may be lacking on the Long Beach front, but why should that stop us? Chill out to the max with some super cool surf and skate trends, such as tailored board shorts, denim cut-offs and oversized T’s. Sling on a pair of sporty shades when the sunshine emerges to finish off the outfit perfectly.
Dose up on the spring/summer trends and you’ll be looking hot next season!

What do you think to these trends?
Any you'll be indulging in or steering away from?
