Lets stay in tonight... // Relaxing over the Weekend

I'm definitely one who prefers a night in over the years. Money definitely goes further for a night in, and even after buying some wine, yummy treats and perhaps a bit of entertainment, I'm still left with more than if I hit the town, so we've been making this our new 'thing' over the last couple of years. It seems I'm not the only one, as a survey recently revealed that 70% of 2000 women prefer a girls night in, too, with most agreeing that theres always something to put a downer on a night out, whether its seeing an ex, queuing, or just being cold. Maybe I'm old, but I'm all up for dressing up (or down) to cosy up with my best friends. Or just Dan.

A while ago, Ladbrokes treated me to the foundations for an 80's night in, and I saw an opportunity to unleash the goodies this weekend when we were too cold to go out for anything other than Hunger Games. We didn't actually get to race the pacman characters because we didn't have 8(!) spare batteries, but its no big deal when you've got a selection of classic films and a huge box of retro sweets! Whats a proper night in without a bit of indulgence? We added some leftover, super yummy Laduree macarons to the mix, which we picked up in London last weekend, and opened up this hamper* from Vikings, which added to our sweet tooth heaven with fudge and chocolate toffees, but also balanced it out with a few savoury treats. (I say balanced, but everything here is pure gluttony, lets face it)! I do love the idea of giving something like this for christmas too, and I'm thinking about getting one for my brother and his other half - Its a great 'joint' present, no?

I set the scene with my newest Yankee Candle in 'Fireside Treats,' and a bunch of fresh, festive flowers direct from Debenhams.* The candle isn't the strongest scented Yankee I've ever had, but its such a warm, cosy scent, and this bunch of roses complete with gold leaf and deep red berries really adds a nice feel. I know, I know, its probably too early for christmas bits, but I can't' help but indulge in festivities already, I'm so excited!
Admittedly though, once snuggled on the sofa, tucked underneath a fluffy duvet with the treat-filled coffee table pulled close we only managed to watch Back to the Future, then we finished off season 3 of Game of Thrones - My latest obsession and probably my biggest 'lets have a night in' driver recently. I'm not entirely sure what to do with myself now we've finished them all, but I'm sure another cosy night in will follow this weekend!

Do you prefer to head out, or enjoy a night in?
Whats your favourite thing to do for a night in?
(Surely I'm not the only gluttonous soul)!

  9. This looks like the perfect evening. That hamper looks delicious and is a joint present that I would be more than happy to both give and receive. (very, very happy to receive!).
I love both going out and staying in, it really does depend on my mood. Though the cold weather does make me tend to opt for snuggling up more often than not. x
