This is a playlist I've put together as part of the MoneySupermarket challenge to create a new playlist on a £20 budget. If its something you'd like to do, you could even get rid of your old CD's etc with MusicMagpie to free up some cash. I really need to sell my stuff, I'd much rather swap in my old cringy BBMak cd's for MP3's to transfer over to my iPod for those long commutes, and for Dans birthday BBQ tomorrow. For the last three years I've commuted to University and have used the long drive into University to really wake up, go nuts and arrive at University switched on, ha! The job I've just got is just one junction closer to me than University, so it looks like I'll be commuting until I manage to move house. I'm really not a morning person, so some bright and funky music in the morning helps transform me into more of a friendly person. This is especially needed since the Chris Moyles show ended (it made me laugh so much)! and Nick Grimshaw manages to grind my gears. So, for the transformation to happen, its gotta be a singsong. I'm the weirdo you drive past on the motorway wondering where it all went wrong.
So, most of these songs are singalong songs, haha.
Bob Marley - Don't worry, be happy. Something gentle to start with for a 6am commute, I guarantee you'll be singing along and swaying towards the end. Reggae is one of my all time favourite genres. It probably always will be.
David Grey - Babylon. Something about old songs from my 'childhood' really spark something, wake me up, and get me singing. It still baffles me that I can remember lyrics from old songs but fail to remember where I put my phone ten times a day.
Beach Boys - Wouldn't it be nice. Lets face it, anything Beach Boys is perfect for summer, and perfect for driving along as you try and sing and fill in the barbershop style vocals at the same time. You'll end up laughing at yourself, I promise.
Bob Marley -
The Cure - Close to me (Missy Elliot mix). It sounds weird, and it kind of is, but trust me on this one and enjoy.
Wham - Club Tropicana. Ahh, imagine it.
The Strokes - Machu Pichu. Just a song I enjoy by a band I love.
Klangkarussell - Sonnentanz. The pool bar at our hotel in Cyprus this year, played this song several times a day, and it drove us nuts. Then I got home, heard a version of it on the radio and was taken back to sitting at the pool bar slipping off the marble underwater seats trying to save my cocktails. Ah, bliss.
Kiss - Love Gun. If you're not feeling awake and ready for anything by the end of this song, you're probably broken.
Semisonic - F.N.T. Although I love Semisonic anyway, this song always reminds me of '10 things I hate about you,' a film that me and my friend used to watch over and over again alongside Romy & Michelles high school reunion, during the summer holidays.
Bastille - Icarus. Again, just another decent song!
Swiss Lips - U got the power. A really upbeat song. And after you see the music video you'll want to dance along even more!
Bombay Bicycle Club - Ivy & Gold. This song never fails to psych me up. This was always the song that really got me going in the gym, so its considered a mood-lifter in my list.
Two Door Cinema Club - Sun. The clue is in the title! And, two door cinema club are just great, they should be on every playlist regardless.
Barenaked Ladies - If I had a million dollars. One of my all time favourites, and a fun one to sing along to. Am I really sad?
Flashdance - She's a maniac. Nows your chance to show the motorway your moves, (concentrate on the road).
Would any of these songs be on your driving playlist?
What would you add?
