August Empties // Mini Reviews #1

Here I am jumping on the bandwagon and sharing the products that I have used up recently. There are so many products that I found myself hourding simply because I didn't want them to 'end,' which defeats the point entirely - So I decided to begin a mission to get things used up and clear some space. Below are the products that I've managed to finish in August, some I've repurchased, and some I'll not bother with again!

Body Shop Banana Shower Gel
This is, or was one of my favourite shower gels, until it was unfortunately discontinued around 4 years ago. I managed to find this on eBay and have hoarded it for ages. It smelt like foam bananas and really lingered.
Repurchase? If this was ever re-released, I'd stock up.

Soap & Glory 'Wash your hands of it' Hand Wash £5
Smells divine, lathers beautifully and does its job at cleaning. Unfortunately, seeing as all my house mates all use it too, it runs out almost weekly so I'm not sure it'll be a firm staple at that price.
Repurchase? I have bought another, but I won't be getting more. Pesky house mates.

Vo5 In-shower Moisture Elixir Oil £4.29
Smother through hair before washing, leave for a minute and rinse. Quicker, and easier to use than the regular hot oils and does make a difference at speed. I just wish there were more than 5 applications in a tube.
Repurchase? I have already!

John Frieda Go Blonder Lightening Spray £6.99
Not too different from the old Sun-In, though it smells a little better (though still weird) and seems to be a little more gentle on the hair. I usually use this on my roots to try and make them blend a little more. I like it, but it dries my hair out too much to use it as often as needed for noticeable results.
Repurchase? No

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle - Reconstructor £4.99
Apply to the hair between shampoo and conditioner and leave for a few minutes - This smells gorgeous and really does make an obvious difference straight away. My hair always feels much softer and sleeker after using this
Repurchase? Yes, I now have 4 stocked up in my bathroom. Obsessed.

Body Shop Banana Shampoo & Conditioner £4 each
I bought this duo to soften the blow of the discontinued banana shower gel. This was actually my second time purchasing these. They smell great and do what they should - But theres nothing particularly special about them.
Repurchase? Although I like it, there are lots better, so no.

Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Hair Rapid Repair Spray £21.75
I have absolutely no idea how this works, its like an ultra light serum and adds shine to hair, prolonging colour and brightening it, I find. Also protects hair and is one of my all time favourite scents.
Repurchase? Through the teeth, due to the price, but yes, I already have.

Paul Mitchell 'Hot off the press' Heat Protector £12.32
This heat protector smells lovely, and is a dry spray rather than dampening hair, perfect if you just want to straighten your hair. Unfortunately its quite a price to pay for a heat protector, and I don't see any drastic difference when I use this over others.
Repurchase? No. For the price there are others.

Lush Veganese Conditioner £4.15
A nice, natural and light conditioner that smells great but not my favourite, purely because my dry hair needs more. Leaves hair shiny and smelling fabulous, but unfortunately does nothing to help my tangled wet hair. If your hair is healthy or oily, you'll possibly love this.
Repurchase? No

Lush Big Shampoo £11.25
This tub has lasted an incredibly long time, which for me makes the price one worth paying. It has quite a gritty substance and requires a LOT of water to build up a lather, but its definitely worth the extra effort because it leaves hair feeling squeaky clean, fresh and yes, bigger.
Repurchase? Yes - But only after I've used up other shampoo.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Foundation £27.50
My least favourite of the Double Wear range. Provides great coverage and is a lot less cakey than the original, but unfortunately it seems to oxidise on my combination skin and dry it out. I much prefer the max version.
Repurchase? No.

Dior Diorshow Blackout Mascara £23
My all time favourite mascara - I've been asked if I'm wearing false eyelashes when wearing this, several times. Gives a dramatic effect with a pitch black colour, but it does dry out faster than any other mascara I've used. Its costly, but I've never managed to find anything close. Repurchase? Yes, always.

Lancome Teint Miracle Concealer/Highlighter £25
Similar to teint idole ultra, but I actually prefer this as its lighter in texture and a better suited shade to my skin. Expensive for what you get, but I do like it. Repurchase? I'm currently trying something similar, but I may go back to this or effacernes.

What have you emptied this month?
Have you tried any of these products - What do you think of them?
