Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24h Foundation // Review

lancome-foundation-teint-idole-ultra

I wouldn't normally blog about foundation - What works for one person can be so different for another, as skin type differs between every single person! But this one, I just have to share. I've seen several people recently asking for recommendations of a matte finish foundation for oily/combination skin, and well, speaking from experience, this is most definitely the one to be reaching for.

I've used pretty much every Lancome foundation thats been released over the last 4 years, and I've used what feels like a million others from a range of brands, and I've always gone back to Lancome. More recently, I've absolutely loved the full coverage of Estee Lauder's double wear, and the max cover is still my 'other' favourite foundation, but I so often missed the natural cover and perfect colour match (010) of Lancomes foundation range.

Before Lancome's Teint Idole Ultra was officially released, I hopped from counter to counter collecting samples of it so I could try it for a good while before buying it (does anyone else do this)? And I fell in love.

(And here I am wearing the foundation before applying blusher, with just a little concealer under my eyes. As you can see, its a flawless, natural looking matte finish without looking dull and its still a tiny bit dewy - I love it)!

The foundation is easy to blend, buildable and of medium coverage. Whilst I love wearing full coverage to cover up my acne scarring, it can sometimes feel heavy and really obvious. This foundation is incredibly light to wear, and whilst it doesn't completely cover up my scars with one light layer, I can simply work over the area with a second layer with no problems. It also seems to magically fill in my crater-pores too, which I'm never going to complain about!
Another thing I've always had a problem with is lasting power - Most foundations tend to oxidise without a primer and more often slide towards the end of the day, and its not pretty. This foundation lasts really well without the use of a primer and whilst its definitely not 24hrs (not that I've ever worn foundation for this long), I can easily go an 9 hour shift at work or get through a full day of lectures without worrying about touch-ups. For me and my oily skin, this is a breakthrough!
On really bad skin days, or nights out, I use a tiny amount of Estee Lauders' Max Cover mixed with Teint Idole Ultra for the absolute perfect finish.

To conclude, this is an amazing medium coverage foundation probably best suited for combination-oily skin for a relatively matte finish! Basically, perfect.

Whats your favourite day-to-day foundation?
Have you tried Lancome Teint Idole Ultra?

  5. I've never tried expensive branded makeup, it's quite a big deal for me. What if I love it? I'll be forking out a fortune for ever more or grumpily using my cheap stuff knowing that I'm missing out. The dilemma!

    1. Haha, I understand your dilemma! There are so many out there that are worse than high street brands, but I'll pay anything if its definitely 'the one' for my skin - Just make sure you get lots of samples! I've had this since it came out and its still looking pretty full! <3

  6. I photographed my sample of this yesterday as I plan on blogging about it too! I was fed up with all the cheaper foundations not working for my oily skin, so decided to try a more expensive one. I have to say this foundation is perfect for me! It looks and feels very natural, plus it blends really easily and doesn't try too quickly before I use my brush to buff it in. I'm going to use all of my Boots points (I think I have £25 worth :O) to get my first bottle but wouldn't hesitate buying it for the full price afterwards :D I'm glad I read your review too as it really is a great foundation, and I hope more people hear about it :)

  9. Firstly I actually think you are very glamorous! And I wish my skin looked like yours in your photographs. I will definitely be trying the Lancome foundation, its not one I've used before but usually I get so tired with buying foundations that make my skin look worse that I just persevere with an awful one sadly. What would you recommend to hide enlarged pores? I don't use a primer at the moment, I don't know if that would help or not?

    1. Oh thank you! My skin is actually pretty grim, I'd be lost without make up haha! I've tried ALL the lancome foundations and haven't been completely happy, I've always strayed to find other brands, but this one is a keeper! Primer always helps, I like the witch one, or Benefit Porefessional for the pore problem!! x

  12. I just got a sample of this. Going to try the whole face tomorrow. If it is what it claims "Matte for Oily/Combo skin" I will be so happy! And, yes...I always get samples. I call myself a Sample Seeker! Have you ever tried Cover FX mineral powder?
