I love it! // The power of puppies

My 16 year old dog Caramac died about a month ago now, surprisingly at 16 years old! We never thought she'd make it to that age, being epileptic and incredibly frail, but she was obviously a fighter! We kept her out of Roxy's (her mother) litter of puppies, who died a few years ago. We'd had Caramac from birth, and she was born pretty much dead. Caramac had always been special to us, so it was incredibly sad to say goodbye...

The most I've ever been without a dog is a couple of weeks, after Ben, our sheepdog died, when I was around 5 years old, and we got Roxy. The house felt incredibly lonely and its impossible to break the habit of 'checking' on the dog, leaving the back door open, and being careful when opening the front door. This place just isn't  the same without some canine presence!
Its no lie that it had taken its toll, most of all on my dad who hasn't actually responded to any of my conversation attempts for a month, causing us all to worry about him.

But...
We've very recently welcomed a new member into our family - Meet Amber!

Those of you who have, or have ever had a pet, probably know about the powerful stress relieving benefits of furry critters. I love coming home to a frantically happy welcome and absolutely adore playing with her, as sharp as her teeth currently are!
And my dad, well, he's a new man.

She's settled in so well, though shes very nervous when new people are around, not to mention 'new' things. She ran off when the TV was turned on, and she leapt into my arms after hearing my next door neighbors dog bark. And today she climbed up me and sat on my shoulders as my dad hoovered up. *roll eyes* <3

This little pup is currently unaware of the fun I have planned for her. Taking her for runs around the country, walks around the lakes, and rides in my car (with a very thick blanket put down - My interior is white)!
My new best mate - Amber!

I've always wanted a puppy but fear I might not have the time properly care for one at the moment.

  8. So sorry to hear about Caramac (what a name, btw!)...but Amber is the cutest little thing!!! I love puppies, I've ALWAYS wanted one and very almost convinced my mum (we bought a lead, collar and name tag!) but sadly the doggy never arrived! Amber is so lucky to be adopted into a family that dotes of their pets so much, she wont be neglected! x

  14. Awwwwwwww.... So sorry to hear about Caramac. :(

But welcome Amber. She looks lovely. I totally know how it feels when you have a puppy. I still remember my doggie when he was one and couldn't even walk on the stairs he was so small and we had to carry him. And I remember how he saw and felt rain for the first time and run away to me to hide, because he was so scared. :)

I just absolutely LOVE dogs, all kinds and every each one of them. I am total dog person and I look forward to getting know Amber!
